Laura is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing in Colorado since May of 2005. Laura began practicing social work in San Antonio Texas in 1990 when she received her Masters in Social Work. Work experience includes inpatient adolescent settings, family service agencies, in home family counseling for at risk families, middle school dropout prevention programming, home health care and discharge planning. Laura has also facilitated various retreats and presented at conferences and enjoys presenting on a variety of topics.
Laura works with adolescents, adults, couples and older adults. Laura utilizes cognitive behavioral techniques, family systems theory, and other methodologies according to her client’s needs and goals. Human beings learn how to cope the best they can with the tools they are given in life and Laura respects her clients for their willingness to seek newer and healthier ways to live their lives and honors the past struggles and behaviors of client’s as attempts to manage their lives. It is a great reward to be a part of the journey of healing with people and to witness and participate in their growth and change.
Relationship struggles and challenges, parenting, depression, anxiety, surviving abuse, self esteem, crisis management, stress management and surviving trauma are all areas of concern Laura loves working with. At the core of her work, Laura utilizes the relationship with her clients, building trust, conveying respect and affirmation and honoring the strength and independence of each individual.
